LOVE these!!!
Absolutely PERFECT for what I was looking for. I wanted shorts for under skirts/dresses that would not peek out, but still provide coverage so that my 3.5 year old wouldn't flash undies while being a typical 3 year old who loves dresses. They are quite short, and I wouldn't allow her to wear them as shorts alone outside of dance or gym. They fit exactly like dance bootie shorts, which is great because she'll get lots of use out of them for a fraction of the cost. She's 34 lbs 37 inches, but I do think that they run tts, as they fit her, but with lots of growing room...so like a typical size 4.

My daughter has just entered that age (6) where she would be *horrified* to have her undergarments showing...and that has limited her ability to wear even longer length skirts to school, since the play yard is anything but ladylike, and circle time requires sitting with legs crossed...I saw these and thought, oh...this will work! Right out of the package, she was thrilled that ~YEA~ no one will see her underwear. (That's a quote.) The world will continue to turn, birds will sing sweetly, and mother has one less headache. Thank you, Old Navy...and while we're at it, how about more color options. The black was a major score... PLEASE KEEP THE BLACK. (I was too late for the pink in XS) Some bold leopard, stripe, or seasonally fun - but not "underwear" looking - prints would be cool, too. Can't have it looking like underwear, though, or I'm back where I started. ;) _________________As a note about fit, my daughter is quite slim...barely 40 lbs at 6.5 years but 44 inches tall. I ordered the XS and they fit perfectly. After laundering, the waist on these measure 19 inches, with some additional stretch to around 21. The leg openings are a touch loose, but I would not want them much tighter since these are effectively tap pants and it is 100 degrees outside. If she were a true little ... size 6, these might have been too small.

These shorts are a staple of my 10-year old daughter's wardrobe. She is very active, doing dance, cheer and tumbling and these shorts go under everything. She wears them under other shorts for comfort and coverage. They are especially good under the short cheer style shorts. I got them for her in every color.

Material is a little thin
I thought the shorts were similar to biker shorts, but the material is on the thin side. You can see underwear through them so it may be best to wear similar colors. I bought these shorts in black and white to put under my daughters skirt/dresses. I went up a size as suggested by many reviews however, it turned out that the larger size was too big. I plan to keep these shorts because I don't want the hassle of returning.

Run very small
My daughter is 47 inches tall and 53lbs Size small is very small, in ON she is fitting into the smalls but these didn't work out. I would have liked to exchange but they had no medium so I can't tell you how the medium fit compared to small. I can't image the medium being much longer in length than the small though. They fit like those little shorts professional cheerleaders wear. They are not fitting like biker ... if that's what your looking for. Girls biker ... longer.
