Very pleasedI bought this style in two different colors for my 19yr old son. He's a very tall, athletic guy so he can't buy pants in the regular men's department any more. He must look for big and tall and it is not easy to find a 36 x 36. That size seems to be too short for the usual "tall" departments and the waist is too small for the "big" departments. We are so happy that Old Navy has pants that fit a tall, physically fit guy. They look great, fit very well and it is super easy to just go online, order and have them a few days later. Previously we would search all over for pants in his size with no luck. We also ordered the cargo shorts from the tall section so they are a couple inches longer. Very pleased.
Finally a true fitting jeanI'm a 6'6" 225lb athlete who always struggles trying to find ... truely fit, and not something I have to deal with or pretend I don't notice any flaws or discomfort. These 38x36 loose ... best fitting ... have EVER had. And with the price on sale I couldn't argue. I'll be buying more in the future.
Smooth transactionThe men's loose fit ... purchased arrived promptly. The transaction went without a hitch before the holidays. I can't rate the pants because they were a gift; I don't know how they fit.
Good valueThese men's loose jean are a good value, and were delivered quickly after I purchased them online. They feel very comfortable and generally fit well, although they are a little too big in the waist. Size 34 waist usually fits me perfectly, but these are sized larger than that. Otherwise, these ... good value, and the shopping experience on the website was excellent.
Better selection of sizes of ... boys changing to men''s The Old Navy ... great, but I have a hard time finding the right sizes for my son. He is only 14 but he is tall and thin. If I find them tall enough, then the waist is way too big. Someone needs to make a better sizing method for boys when they go from boys sizes to men's. There are no good sizes in between. I work at Old Navy and we get that complaint from customers a lot.
Switching to ... pants A friend recommend the Men's Loose fit ... after I had told her of my problem finding women's ... cover my rear. And, these ... do the trick, I liked them so much that I bought two more pairs on sale in the store, but unfortunately even though they are the same size as the pair that I had purchased online, they do not fit. So, there is a sizing inconsistency, and I will be returning them. :(

Very let down with these pantsI went to the store first to try on the pants before I ordered them so I could get the styles I wanted. When I got the pants in I tried them on right away. They fit great. However, after washing them exactly according to the instructions on the pants, they SHRUNK, a lot!!! In 30 years, I have never had ... shrunk like this. They didn't even fit like a loose jean anymore. I was very upset with these ... returned them right away. I like Old Navy clothes, but I will never buy their ... again.
New cut of Loose fit ... I have been buying Old Navy loose ... 5+ years and have always had good luck with them up until recently (within last 6months or so) For a while the stores and online was out of stock on their loose fit ... after they got them back in the cut was way different. The new version of the old navy loose ... NOT LOOSE!!! The waist and length are fine but the legs of the pants are cut thinner and not actually loose and also the rise is much more like a low rise jean. One other thing is that the seat/crotch area is much tighter. You could say, hey, buy the next biggest size...Iv'e tried them on, they are WAY too big. Its a sad day that old navy has messed with their ... point that I must buy my ... somewhere else now. I agree with others that say the denim is a bit thinner than other brands but they do wear pretty good. They do wear out by the pockets in the back but for the price I would say that the length of time you wear them is still a good value. For others that say they don't look good, I am not sure they either bought the right size, cut or what but i've been asked where I got my ... gotten compliments on them....well, the older style of loose ... anyway. The new ones could be called [*] NOT COOL! C'mon Old Navy, please go back to the old style.
Totally wrongI ordered 3 pair of Men's Loose Fit ... 1 pair of Men's Regular Fit ... all the same size based on pairs I currently own, with the only difference being they were each a different color/style (medium/light authentic/vintage). When I opened my package all four pair were the exact same style (what looks to be dark authentic) and only the Men's Regular and one pair of the Men's Loose actually fit. The other 2 pair of Men's Loose said they were the exact same size as the one pair that did actually fit, but you can hold them up in comparison and clearly see they are indeed smaller. Long story short... don't waste your time shopping for Old Navy ... online, go to a store.
Make sizes accurateI ordered a pair of men's ... match the previous Old Navy ... purchased. I expected the pants 36x32 to fit similarly to the old pair but was shocked when I put them on. The inseam measurement was supposed to be 32 and measured 33 1/2 inches. I guess ordering online is no longer a possibility if the measurements are not accurate anymore.

Good for girls, too!I'm extremely tall, so often times I have to wear men's pants for the length, and these work perfectly.
Nice FitI am a woman that wears men's ... fit and the pockets. Women's pants have too small pockets. These ... fit wonderfully for a woman that wears and Old Navy 18 or 20. I really like them
A great pair of ... Old navy has a great pair of men's loose fit painter ... bought over a year ago. Glad to say Old navy makes a pretty good pair of ... am surprised about how durable and trendy they are after all this time. I wear them for just about anything from heading to the mall to working out in the yard. I even find myself catching a movie or two while sporting a freshly pressed pair. My Men's loose fit painter ... fantastic and Old navy is even more fantastic because it!
Got lucky on this one!My boyfriend is the hardest person to buy ... All of my previous attempts ended with my returning to the store with the item. We were so happy that these ... were actually LOOSE fitting! He hates the tapering on men's ... but these passed the test! Highly recommend.
Not the rise of the pastThese are the first Old Navy pants I've ever purchased for my husband, but I have purchased the painter's ... myself about 10 years ago. He made a comment about the waist being a little lower than he's worn before - looking at them on him, I could see what he was commenting about. As a larger individual, it's tough to find pants that fit comfortably and still look good - making men's ... low rise isn't one that I would agree with (it's bad enough seeing the younger generation walk around with their cracks and rolls hanging out - not exactly what a mature grown up would choose to do). The ones I had purchased for myself were a better rise and fit a little better. He was also somewhat disappointed in the blandness of the stitching. There's no stitching across the back pockets like they used to - made them a little more eye catching. Old Navy - WHY THE CHANGE?? What worked before wasn't broken so please change it back!!
good value for the priceI purchased two of these ... because they were on sale for [$] each. They're very comfortable, the waist and hips are just a tiny bit looser than my other ... same size. Even the length is longer than usual - I wear men's big and the longest length Old Navy offers in my size is a 32, which isn't long enough for me. These, however, are plenty long, almost too long if I go barefoot. The only thing I don't like about these ... size of the bell bottoms. I haven't worn bell bottoms like these since the 1970s, and I definitely don't like it. If I had known how flared the lower legs are, I might not have bought them. Otherwise, I love these ...
DisapointedI use to buy the Men's Loose Painter Pants(5 or so years ago), they were my favorite ... they fit better then any pair of ... I'd bought in a long time. My complaint is that the color is no longer the same. I prefer a lighter color jean(the way they use to be) but now when I your ... even if I order the "Light Authentic" the are not much lighter then the Dark ones. I thought that due to the picture shown on the web site that you had started selling the lighter ... again,but when I received them they were dark ones again.I gave a rating of three stars because they still fit great, all I wish is that you would bring back the old light color ... Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks.
Can''t a big guy get decent ... I really liked the look of these ... saw them on line and ordered them. I put them on and they fit and looked great...until I looked down at my ankles. The leg holes were HUGE! I almost couldn't see my shoes. They were, probably half as big as the waist. Somebody doesn't understand bigger men's bodies. I took them back to the store, immediately, for a refund.
fitted for stick figures?I bought these to replace my current pair of Old Navy ... wasn't sure about buying pants online but I figured if I got the same fit and same size I would be okay, especially since I have plenty of room in my old pair. Bad idea -- the new ... very different fit. Way too tight everywhere -- waist, hips, rear, leg, rise. It is definitely not a "loose" fit even at the same size. Throw a wallet and keys in the pockets and you can barely sit down. I do not think that an average sized guy would feel comfortable in these ... would suggest buying in store where you have the opportunity to try them on first. In the meantime, I hope ON reconsiders and goes back to making MEN'S ... Product is "Made in Pakistan".
BRING BACK OLD STYLE ... PAINTER ... This new style is WAY TOO CONSTRICTING!!! I LOVED THE OLD STYLE OF THE MEN'S PAINTER PANTS FOR THIS VERY REASON. tHEY HAVE NO ROOM IN THE CROTCH, LEG OR HIP AREA. I feel like my blood circulation is being cut off! Unless you bring back the old style PAINTER pants, I will no longer buy from OLD NAVY and I will tell anyone I see not to buy from you either.

I have five of these,original ones that I bought from you, so I have something to compare with. Generaly I'm very disappointed by the downgrade of quality/appearance and don't intend to buy another pair of Loose Painter ... again.

The ... bit low rise for me but not enough to look like a plumber when you bend down, nothing against plumbers im just saying. Not sure why Old Navy has changed the way they make their style ... but I am very disappointed. Thier present loose cut should be called their boot cut jean, and they need to bring back their extra loose cut jean because in my opinion they presently do not have a true loose cut jean. Until they figure it out, I will be looking for a different brand of jean to meet all of my needs.

Both pair were ordered in the same size but the Regular jeans wouldn't even fasten let alone feel comfortable. I am returning the Regular ... reorder another pair of Painter ... don't know if the cut of the Regular ... new or what but we used to buy that style all the time and they were just what my husband like because they fit him the way he wanted, not so much now.
Cheap materialI have worn Old Navy ... past 6 or 7 years. I recently purchased two pair of the regular fit. When I got them, I was highly disappointed at the color of the ... thickness of the denim. The denim color is very light indigo and then stained so they look like dirty ... right out of the wash. The material is thin and stretchy. Definitely not a traditional pair of denim ... Time to find another jean supplier.

Very good value and good looking / fitting!I now have a large amount of these ... Since I have been losing weight lately I have gone through all of the sizes from 48" right down to the 40" I am in today. These are a very comfy pair of ... lightweight and not too warm. Funnily enough, the 40" pair i'm in at the moment is slightly tight in the rear, something I didn't expect since the other sizes I went through were fine. This could be something to do with my body shape though and not necessarity a bad fitting jean. Very highly recommended, I will keep going back to ON for my ... because they fit so well and are such good value.

Pretty good but....I got 2 pair of these ... offline for my nephew. We had already purchased one pair in store for him to be sure of the sizing. I have to say that the quality of the instore ... whatever reason is more to be desired. The offline ... were bigger thru the seat and the leg opening were much more open, similiar to that of a bootcut jean. Also the size 29 waist & the size 30 are both exactly the same. Overall the ... were worth the sale price, but I will buy in store from now on to be sure of the sizing.
On the big side...My son is now in men's ... pretty shocked how wide the legs on these ... leg is straight, but definitely baggy on my son. I would love to see you include skinny ... men's line, please.

Funnily enough, the 40" pair i'm in at the moment is slightly tight in the rear, something I didn't expect since the other sizes I went through were fine. This could be something to do with my body shape though and not necessarity a bad fitting jean. Very highly recommended, I will keep going back to ON for my ... because they fit so well and are such good value.

Best pair of ... own I don't usually write reviews, but these ... awesome. I own a lot of Levi's 501s and started to buy their 514s to get a nice, slim fitting jean. Usually, I have to buy a size up. With these ... Old Navy, however, I was able to buy my correct size -- I didn't have to buy a size up or down --and they fit me perfectly. These ... best ... have in my closet now, and I have about 10 pairs of ... Old Navy, please expand this into different colors and washes. I would love to see these in all black, with black stitching. I also wouldn't mind seeing these in a light blue stonewash color (classic denim look), as well as light gray.
SKINNY ... I'm a short guy here 5'5 and my legs size is 27 and I've always having a problem with ... never fit or anything and i have always buy jean and go to tailors to have it hem and sew, when i saw the SKINNY ... old navy and brand new and im like mmm let me try this on and I FELL IN LOVE aned im sooooo HAPPY and its so perfect and i just need to have hem that it... everything is just right for me and im really really really happy about that !!!! cudnt believe i feel soo comfortable with this SKINNY ... !! love it... i suggest you all to buy this ... best EVER !! THANKS OLD NAVY !!!!
Surprisingly Great ... I am so glad that Old Navy finally gave in to the trends and came up with a slim fit jean. These ... looser than the skintight skinny ... but not nearly as loose looking as the regular straight ... sz 40X34, it's virtually impossible to find ... any store. And, when I am able to find ... usually end up having to go with a shorter length (32) than I prefer. I bought these along with the slim straight ... only difference is in the calf/ankle area. These fit more closely to that area while the slim straights fit almost the same in the hip and thigh but, more straight through the ankle. If they had some additional nice washes (maybe a light color like the one featured on the model of the homepage), I'd definitely come back. Thanks ON!

A Good Blue Jean for the priceI'm 6'5", and 190 lbs. I purchased the tall size, 33 x 36. I've always known that ON ... best ... under $50, bar none. I've had bootcut and straight pairs that have lasted, not faded very quickly, and fit very well. These slim ... slim, but not skinny, the wash is as see on the website, and they look great with a cuff. Though the "dark" part is correct, they're not exactly "rigid". That is to be expected, though, since the denim is not top quality. All in all, if you are familiar with Old Navy denim, and are looking for a slim ft jean, this is a can't miss.
