petite tops - reviews

I'm quite petite in that I'm only 5 foot, but I'm quite large in the chest area. I was a little skeptical buying a petite, but I was afraid to get this in regular as those generally swim on me. I got a medium in petite and I was so happy that I did, the arms fit perfectly, the length was perfect too, fit just a little over the waist but not too much. I am definitely going to get this shirt again.

A Perfect Fit!
Love this shirt! It's a perfect fit. A chic addition to my wardrobe...I wear it with black shorts, heels and a blazer or a skirt and over the-knee boots for a very sophisticated look or just wear it with jeans for a clean casual look. I'm 5'1" 104 lbs, small chest, ordered an xs petite and fit's beautifully. Excellent for the price! Quality is good. Cold wash gentle cycle (use Woolite for darks to prevent fading), hang dry, ironing needed. I would buy this again and recommend it to anyone who has been looking for a nice collared, button up shirt for a great price. This was my first Old Navy purchase but will not be my last. Go Old Navy! : )

Beautiful color!
Love the shirt! 34DDD, typically size 12-14 pants and Med/Large on ON for tops. I purchased a L petite in the blue. Fits great in the shoulders and sleeves. Slightly tight in the chest but the buttons do not gap, almost a sexy look. However I found the shirt to be snug below the chest. Would fit perfectly if I lost 5 pounds in my midsection. Haven't tried it with spanx but will try.Also bought the same shirt in an XL petite. Fits a little loose under the chest, and is a little big in the shoulders. But I like this fit much better in my midsection.

Great Basic White Shirt
Other reviewers had mixed feelings about this shirt and I can understand why now. First, I'm 5'1" and weigh about 135. A definite pear shape with a smaller chest. I ordered a petite small. This shirt in white flattered everything I'd want it to: ... button hit me at just the right spot, the fit was not too tight and I had plenty of room to move around in the chest, shoulders and arms. Plus, it hides my tummy as it nips in at the waist but is not form fitting. HOWEVER, when I ordered the blue color, everything I liked about the white version when out the window: too tight in the shoulders and upper arms, tight across my chest (which is small to begin with!). The sleeves were the right length for petite, which is guess is a plus though.

Cute work shirt
I purchased this shirt in hopes of finding a long sleeve work shirt that would not be too long on the arms so I ordered an XS Petite and it's perfect! I ordered the charcoal and it's a bit darker in person than on my computer screen but that's common when ordering online since its difficult to see the true color on our monitors. But I think it's still a very pretty color.

Really nice for the price
I have been looking for button up shirts that I can actually button (without spending a fortune) for a really long time. I'm 5'4" and a 36C, usually wear a medium but those would fit in the waist and arms and then not button at the ... ordered a Large in these and they are practically perfect. In retrospect, I probably should have ordered the petite sizes as the sleeves are a bit long, but I don't mind that as much as the button thing. Also, I wouldn't throw these in the dryer as Old Navy clothes tend to shrink. Order a size up and you'll be glad you did. The Blue color is great, white and pink are a bit shear; but the neckline is low so a cami is necessary anyway.

runs small but nice shirt
Normally I wear size Petite XS in Old Navy tops, but the XS and even S were WAY too tight. I have a fuller bust which is part of the issue. I finally got the Petite M and that fits the best. Its still a little tight in the bust but not bad. I do need to wear a camisole under it since the ... button is quite low, but its a nice closet staple shirt for work. Now that I now what size to get I ordered one more in another color.

Not quite petite enough
I'm 4'11'' and ordered this in a petite. The torso is still a bit long for me so I will have to wear a cami underneath. However, it's the perfect shirt for putting underneath a suit jacket.

Nice fabric, but too small in bust
I usually order a petite medium in everything, but this shirt felt like it was a petite XXXsmall and I couldn't even get it buttoned.Sleeves were a little shorter than I like falling just above the wrist bone and even shorter when I moved. I'm petite with a 34C D so the petite sizes in this style don't appear to accommodate women with curves. However I liked it so much I'm going to keep trying to find a size that works. The cut was extremely flattering below the bust area.

Disappointed ... but at such a great price!
The main problem I have with this shirt wasn't mentioned in any of the reviews. The buttonholes are too small for the buttons, and buttoning the shirt is trying. This is a consistent problem among all of the shirts I ordered. Other issues: SIZING. ON's sizing is bewildering, and one of the reasons I now remember I stopped shopping ON. I am 5' 8" and my weight varies, 145 - 165. I have "large" shirts that, when I'm at my largest, literally look like an artist's smock or a dress, with the tail hitting mid- to low thigh and loose enough that I could wear a coat underneath; I also have "medium" shirts from Old Navy that fit fine, also at my largest weight; others slightly snug. Then there are these, that are just too small. Another problem is the ordering software. I reached the shirts through the "Tall" link and ordered all of my other items in Tall. However, one shirt that was sent was Petite (and it shows as correct on my order). I definitely didn't select this; I'm assuming that when changing colors without a size selected, the behavior of the software allowed this. If that's the case, that algorithm needs to be changed. FINALLY: All of the clothes I ordered are constructed from very thin fabric. When my order arrived, it was in a box measuring 5" x 15" x 12", containing: five long sleeved shirts, two short sleeved shirts, two pairs of capri pants, and one pair of long pants. All of this in a box five inches deep -- and the box still had room for more! It's summer in Texas, so lightweight fabric is great; but when you put on ANY of these items (esp. light colored), you'll debate about wearing camisoles or Spanx with them. I suppose if that's a tradeoff with the great prices, that's fine. But ON from now on is for me a place to buy "disposable" summer casual wear.

Petite runs small
This shirt seemed to run really small. It might be ok for someone with a smaller bust. I tend to wear blouses unbuttoned a little on the low side (maybe leaving one more open than most), but this blouse bordered on obscene! Notice there are not buttons all the way up to the neck. There's one that is about mid bust, then no more buttons except for one at the collar. The one at mid bust, when closed, still showed half my bra. Maybe if I wore a demi cup it wouldn't have showed...? Either way, I was looking for something to wear to the office, and this would not work for me. I'm not particularly busty- about average, I think- but I think this might be better for someone on the smaller chested side. On the plus side, the fabric felt nice, refined, and seemed to have a good amount of stretch. The size of the waist was right on- tailored but not tight, and no bulging buttons. I would have like it to have slightly longer sleeves, and a slightly longer length, overall, but I needed the petite to get the waist to hit at the right place. I think a larger size would have just looked like a bigger mis proportioned shirt. I don't know. Possibly a nice blouse, but just not right for my body.
